A photo from a lengthy photoshoot I Art Directed for Honda Motorcycles in the middle of '07.

Although like every product image there's been extensive retouching done in post, the speed effect is actually 100% legit. Well, in a manner of speaking. The biker and the bike are actual stationary, and the camera was rigged on a track (like a train track) with a long exposure. Basically, we took the photo while the camera was moving down this track, and got the speed effect we wanted after 15 (or so) takes.

Photo shoot happened in Arizona, at Lost Dutchman National Park. It was 108° F that day.

Must ask... you say the speed effect is 100% legit and that the bike was stationary - how did you guys manage to get the wheels looking like they're spinning... actually rolling, Photoshop?

Woah. I need to learn how to do such clear retouching with Photoshop. *Must find out*

I love the idea of combining the two photos to get the desired effect. Simple way of faking a complicated shot. :D
