Loft9 Update by TheRyanFord Loft9 Update by TheRyanFord
I'm learning how to program OpenType features. It's kind of a pain, but it's good. Now I'll be able to eliminate the need for a Normal and Alternate version of the font and be able to dictate Stylistic Alternatives for glyphs I choose.

Also found the need to add a terminal to the lowercase t, just for continuity's sake.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing with the statement that the internet is a series of tubes? :)

Really beautiful work! Letters like Q, E, S, G, B and R are a bit quirky to me which I like. Also nice details in the lowercase, and quite clever t_u ligature.

it's pretty, but I think you could do better... for example, you could give it a bit of personality, it's too neutral now, in my opinion

How does one render your fonts? I know that you make them in illustrator, but... what program do you use to get the final font file?

I don't make them in illustrator at all. I don't touch illustrator.
My fonts are made in FontLab.

This is (in my honest opinion) the best font I've ever seen. I'm loving it, but I think it will be really expensive, won't it?

Nevertheless I think, I'll try to buy this one.

No it won't be really expensive at all. I have made a commitment to provide a fantastic typeface at a reasonable price. The only thing delaying it is time (I recently moved into a new house, so most of my free time is spent fixing up the house and building things).

I promise it'll be priced in the $20's.

Is there a function for that Clog corner?
Is is a new (or yours) invention?

I notice you've changed the P and R (among others) to a more balanced form, definitely makes the copy more readable but those top-heavy letters really made the originality of this typeface. I like the Q but it also seems to veer from the geometric foundations you started with.

I like where this is heading but I also liked the sort of art deco style you were going with at first. I wish I could have both!

The art deco style is going to be there. What I'm showing in the last two previews are the letterforms intended for body copy usage. The heavily geometric forms used in the "normal" version actually don't work in large chunks of copy as well as the Alternate letterforms. Hence, the more zipped-up P, R, and the less-of-a-perfect-circle O is intended for body copy.

Seriously, every time you put another one of these preview/updates out, I drool a little more. I'd probably only be able to afford one or two of the fonts and not the whole set, but still, that's a freaking awesome font.

I've decided it'll be affordable. Despite the amount of work I'm putting into it, I think affordability is paramount if I want it to be used. Not that I was thinking about charging a ton of cash for each weight, or anything, but I think my work now will be on par, price-wise, with other well-known sans-serifs.

Is there a name for typefaces where the numbers are at different heights, like this? It looks cool, is there rationale behind it?
