So your the person who created this? Wow. I've seen this piece get around and I thought it was just a piece of art, didn't think there was any logic behind it.
Congrats; its not often that I find the creator to a wandering piece of art I see on the web. XD
I love the background texture. It's smooth, color blended, not attracting the eye, but it isnt a plain solid color that almost offends the eye. I always love your color choice as well... you never seem to just pick a popular color that will get approval, but more, work at making your own style fit in with the mood and feel of your work. Especially in this one and some others I spot in your gallery, I see a lot of low-sat colors, which I personally love.
It works great as a background wallpaper for many reasons. It has the logo in the center. Sort of the unnatural part to the wall. There are a lot of active pieces, and wonderful images, but the logo doesnt fit in the scheme, it's the alien image, of sorts... so it draws attention. Then there's the detailed, insects all around it, drawn towards it, further increasing the eye movement. towards one point.. not all over the place. And damnit man, if I don't love those critters... so gentle and complacent.. detailed, intricate, lovely pieces of recreated art. A good mirror to the real world. And in some you add your own creativity to the beautiful art.. such as the ladybug, but that just makes it a little less cliche, and more original, and interesting.. sets it aside, so to speak.
I don't like the heavy shadow underneath the central logo. It looks wierd, and contrasts too much with the light, smooth, flowing, fitting wallpaper as a whole. If you made it smaller or just added a dark highlight on the bottom half, or lower-right half, or somewhere in between.. it'd be better IMO.
I think the light inside the sphere is kinda harsh too Makes the Q kinda hard to decipher easily as it gets to the lower half. I do like the subtle lighting around the larger insects and the logo... but maybe add some subtle darkening around the edges, more specifically the emptier upper corners..
Great piece, I'm definitely downloading it for later use, probably the next time I change my theme.. I only selected my current one probably 10 mins ago lol
